Hudson Valley Community College’s newest facility, TEC-SMART, features more than a dozen state-of-the-art classrooms and laboratories that will be used to train the workforce in green technologies, including semiconductor manufacturing, photovoltaics, home energy efficiency, geothermal, alternative fuels and wind energy. “TEC-SMART will soon be recognized as a mecca for skilled labor in the Clean Energy Field,” stated Joseph Sarubbi, Executive Director of TEC-SMART.

A ribbon cutting ceremony and open house was held on April 21, 2010 at its new STEP Park facility located next to Luther Forest in Malta. Also on display was the new 62.6 kW solar panel system installed by Alteris Renewables, featuring both roof and ground mount systems. Together with the facilities other sustainable features, which includes two 5 kW wind turbines still in the construction process, it is expected to significantly reduce TEC-SMART’s energy consumption by 40%.
