Denise Abda Nahal going back to school with first book “Hello Birdie! Tale of a Classroom Pet”
Denise Nahal, a local East Greenbush resident who spent 25 years teaching at Bell Top School in Troy, NY has had her first book published, entitled “Hello Birdie! Tale of a Classroom Pet.” The work is a children’s book based on a true story about Rubric, her White-fronted Amazon Parrot who spent many years as her classroom pet and friend.
On March 25th,2013 Denise will be returning to Bell Top School for an author-reading day where she will be reading her newly published book to the student body. She will be accompanied by Rubric, as she entertains student questions and signs copies for those in attendance. “It’s exciting to be returning to Bell Top to share the story the children and families at Bell Top inspired.” stated Denise Nahal. “I appreciate the opportunity to read my new book about Rubric to the students, and am looking forward to a fun and memorable day.” In anticipation of the visit, Bell Top School has also planned some special activities for students including parrot related crafts and decorations, as well as an author’s lunch with Denise.

About the Author
Denise Abda Nahal was born in Scranton, Pennsylvania and holds a Masters Degree from State University of New York at Albany. She and her husband Henry, live in East Greenbush, New York with Rubric their White-fronted Amazon Parrot and Mitzi their Boston Terrier. Denise is a retired teacher and naturalist who treasured sharing her love of all things natural with her students. She continues to share this love today with her family and friends.
